
Dr. Gordon Thomas graduated with a B.S. degree in biology and chemistry from the University of Massachusetts in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts and earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston in 1977. He is a Board Certified Optometric Physician who has practiced with Dr. Mathews since 2002. Dr. Thomas was on staff at St. Luke's Cataract and Laser Institute in Tarpon Springs, Florida from 1984-2002 and prior to that was in private practice in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. and Holyoke, Massachusetts. During the years he has practiced as an optometrist, he has examined patients in Azerbaijan, Peru, Morroco, Armenia, Mexico, and Honduras on eye mission trips with Medical Ministry International and has done a general mission trip in Guyana, South America with Lutheran Services.
He is presently a member of the Second Time Arounders Marching Band of St. Petersburg and the St. Petersburg Community Band and plays the tuba and euphonium. He is also past president of both his church council at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection and the Clearwater Evening Lions Club and has been a Lions member since 1977. His professional affiliations include the American Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association, Central Suncoast Optometric Physicians, and Medical Ministry International.
